Volunteer Application and Screening Instructions

Thank you for your decision to volunteer with Child Evangelism Fellowship®. We are excited about all that God is going to do as you share the Gospel with unchurched children in their communities.

Volunteer Application and Screening Instructions for CEF Volunteers.

CEF® is serious about taking responsibility to protect the children, the volunteers, partnering churches and the good name of Jesus Christ.

Following are some important considerations for all who will volunteer and have direct contact with the children through CEF ministries.

  • CEF does online background checks and volunteer applications utilizing a secure server so that your information is safe.
  • All volunteers (age 18 and older) and CEF missionaries are required to undergo a national criminal background check.
  • All approved workers will receive a required nametag upon completion of steps 1-4.
  • You will need to go online to complete the screening process.

THERE ARE 3 EASY STEPS REQUIRED FOR NEW VOLUNTEERS:

STEP 1: READ & SIGN THE Worker's Compliance Agreement (WCA) FORM

A. Read the Statement of Faith

B. Watch the 12-minute "Protecting Today’s Child" presentation or listen at 1-866-878-4182

C. Read the Child Protection Policy

IF YOU ARE A MINOR (under 18)

You will need to send the two reference forms to the two individuals, ie. a Church Pastor and a Non-Relative.

STEP 2: FINGERPRINTING

WHAT IS Assembly Bill 506 (AB506)?

The State of California passed new legislation AB506 effective January 1, 2022 related to screening and training volunteers and employees who interact with children, as a reaction to multiple large sexual abuse claims. AB 506 requires all youth organizations that serve children (churches, schools, daycares, nonprofits, etc.) to perform a background check (including fingerprinting and running those prints against the State of California’s criminal database) on all administrators, employees and "regular volunteers". This type of criminal history check is commonly known in California as a Live Scan. Additionally, these employees and volunteers must be provided training that meets the State’s standards related to the requirements of a mandated reporter. More resources can be found on our sexual abuse prevention partners website: MinistrySafe and Abuse Prevention Systems.

WHO NEEDS TO BE FINGERPRINTED?

Even though you might have completed your fingerprinting at your home church or with another organization, the record is non-transferable, and cannot be used for our organization. Likewise whatever your LiveScan report is, we won't be able to share the result with anyone else either.

WILL I BE ABLE TO RECEIVE A COPY OF THE RECORD?

CEF Southern California State Office is the ONLY Custodian Of Records. Our chapter office will never be able to access your report. Upon your LiveScan completion, the CEF State Office will notify us and tell us if there is any concerns or issues flagged from the report.

WHAT IS THE COST? WHO DO I PAY?

Our chapter office gets billed by the CEF State Office. The cost of fingerprinting is about $25 USD. Please make your payment to "CEFSGV" prior to booking your appointment.

There are many ways that you could pay: http://cefsgv.org/donate

HOW TO BOOK MY FINGERPRINTING APPOINTMENT?

After payment is made, contact our office administrator for a non-transferable PAYMENT CODE specifically assigned to you before booking your appointment online. Fingerprinting must be done at a CEF DESIGNATED LIVESCAN FACILITY. Do not just call up a local policy department or a random LiveScan center.

I AM NOT COMPUTER SAVVY, COULD I GET HELP BOOKING THE APPOINTMENT?

Our office admin is willing and ready to help. Fill out the assistance request form below and we will in touch with you.

STEP 3: REGISTER AND ATTEND A ONE-TIME, 6-HOUR SUPER SEMINAR WORKSHOP.
