Saul Trusts in Jesus as His Savior
Big Idea: Are you willing to follow God's directions?
Scripture: Acts 8:3-4; 9:1-22
Memory Verse: “But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." -Romans 5:8 ESV
Word Up!: God can save anyone!
Saul tried to “earn” God’s approval by following His laws perfectly. In his zeal to achieve perfection, Saul set out to go to Damascus to persecute these people who claimed Jesus was not only the Son of God, but God Himself.
On the way, Saul was stopped by a bright light that blinded him and a voice spoke to him, revealing that God had sent His Son, Jesus, to be the Savior of the world. Saul discovered that he was not serving God; he was going against God Himself!
Because he had lost his sight, those who were with him brought him to a house in Damascus
Saul discovered the truth that he was saved “not because of works done by him in righteousness, but by God’s own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit.”
As a result of God’s work in his life, Saul was a changed man! God did great things through him. Saul, whose name was later changed to Paul, became the greatest missionary of the early church and wrote much of the New Testament.
God can change anyone!
