Word Up!: Jesus is King!
This week’s lesson was a Biblical and historical account of the wise men who sought the King of kings: the long-awaited King of the Jews. These wise men (who were likely more in number than three) were also known as Magi and were the “kingmakers” of their day. Their knowledge of astronomy and study of the Old Testament writings - especially in the Book of Daniel - along with God’s Providence and guidance - helped them seek the King of kings spoken of in Micah 5:2 and Matthew 2:6.
The Lord put a new star in the sky to announce the birth of the Savior, Jesus Christ. The Lord wanted these men to find the King! Psalm 98:2-3 declares how the Lord’s salvation is to all the nations and He desires that all people be saved 1 Timothy 2:4.
The wise men brought gifts appropriate for royalty and they bowed down and worshipped Jesus, the King of the Jews. Like the wise men, we can honor the Lord as our King and Savior by giving everything we think, say, and do be a gift to honor Him.
