Jesus: God of Power & Glory 4
Lesson 4: Jesus Offers Hope to a Samaritan Leper
Big Idea: Jesus is your only hope for salvation.
In this evangelistic narrative lesson, the story of the ten lepers was told. They were banished from society, but one man was an outcast for an additional reason. He was a Samaritan. Even without leprosy this man would have been ostracized. Add to that his leprosy and you can see how he was completely without hope.
These ten lepers decided to take a step of faith. They went to see Jesus, the great physician. He offered them hope when everyone else offered rejection. The great physician healed all ten, yet only one offered thanks. It was the Samaritan—the one doubly ostracized.
We all have many reasons to thank the Lord. Today we can have hope because Jesus forgives our sins. It is only through Jesus’ death on the cross that our debt can be paid and we can be in a relationship with God. Over the week, children are encouarged to give thanks to God for His forgiveness!
Scriptures: Luke 17:11-19; Leviticus 13:45-46; 14:2
Memory Verse: Matthew 6:12 ESV “And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.”
Teaching Objective: The unsaved child will believe that Jesus is his only hope.
Main Teaching: Jesus is your only hope for salvation.
Emphasis for Saved: Thank God for what He has done for you.
Word Up!: Thank God—Jesus gives hope!
