Summer Is Coming

The Lesson of the Fig Tree

29 And he told them a parable: “Look at the fig tree, and all the trees. 30 As soon as they come out in leaf, you see for yourselves and know that the summer is already near. 31 So also, when you see these things taking place, you know that the kingdom of God is near. 32 Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all has taken place. 33 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away. LUKE 21:29-33 ESV

A sure sign of summer is the leafing of the fig tree. In this passage, Jesus says that, when people see all the signs, then the end is near. “About that day or hour no one knows,” (Matthew 24:36) We don't know when the signs mentioned will begin to unfold. We believe we are getting closer to that time and we pray, “Thy kingdom come” (Matthew 6:10, KJV). As we wait and pray, we remember the fig tree prophecy.

Matthew 24:14: "And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come."

Jeremiah 31:35 "No more shall every man teach his neighbor, and every man his brother saying, 'Know the LORD,' for they all shall know Me, says the LORD. For I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more."
