Hebrews 13:14

Will your Home be in Heaven?

Submitted By Pam Burton

“For this world is not our permanent home; we are looking forward to a home yet to come.”
Hebrews 13:14

How many of us have stood at the ocean water’s edge and felt the wet sand pull from beneath our feet? There’s a geological term for this called liquefaction. If we so choose, our feet can stand upon the Sure Foundation that will not give way which is Jesus Christ the Rock of our Salvation.

Christ is our Security and is Trustworthy.

Psalm 62:6 “He only is my rock and my salvation, my stronghold; I will not be shaken.”

The first stanza to a familiar hymn written by Edward Mote in 1836 affirms Who we must trust:

“My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus' blood and righteousness
I dare not trust the sweetest frame
But wholly lean on Jesus' name
On Christ the solid rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand
All other ground is sinking sand”

Are you certain you are going to Heaven?

Eighty years ago when my Dad was in elementary school, his family moved from one home to another. His new home was a short distance from his original home. Back in the day, children could walk home from school unaccompanied and people actually left their homes unlocked. After school he walked home but, out of habit, he walked to his original home. He opened the front door, walked in, and stood in the front room. He was immediately met by the woman of the house who asked, “What are you doing here? You don’t live here anymore!” The Lord does not want us to be confused whether we are going to Heaven.

1 John 5:11-13 tells us, “And the witness is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life. These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, in order that you may know that you have eternal life.” Further, in John 14:6 Jesus states, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me.”

I would ask again, are you certain you are going to Heaven?

Ephesians 2:8-9 “for by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, that no one should boast.”

You can put your complete trust in the Lord Jesus Christ because it was His precious Blood that was shed for your sins. In Romans 3:23 it tells us, “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”

If you have trusted in the Lord for your salvation we are to “grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory, both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.” (2 Peter 3:18).
