Psalm 133:1 Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brothers to dwell together in unity!

The word “unity” can also be interpreted as “harmony” or “as one.” How can this be accomplished? Jesus spoke of such unity in John 15:12 wherein He states: this is my commandment, that you love one another, just as I have loved you. How can this be accomplished?

Ephesians 4:2-3 states: with all humility and gentleness, with patience, showing forbearance to one another in love, being diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

And, Colossians 3:14 and beyond all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity. Godly brotherly and sisterly love and unity is also meant to benefit those outside the Body of Christ. As Christians, we are called to be “centrifugal” (moving away from the center) rather than “centripetal” (moving inward).

2 Kings 7:3-9 gives an account of four famished leprous men who came upon an abandoned city and find all sorts of wonderful goods and food. Verse 9 explains their realization that they should not keep this good news to themselves.

We, as brothers and sisters, have the best news that must not be kept to ourselves: the Good News of the Gospel.
