Trials

Bible Reading: James 1:1-12

Trials are inevitable and they are valuable for one's spiritual growth. When we face trials, we can count on God and that one day we will receive the crown of life. We can ask God to help us to stand firm in difficult times.

Scriptures

Psalm 34:19 “Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all.

2 Corinthians 4:8-9 We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed—"

1 Peter 4:12 “Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you;"

Memory Verse

But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ ” - Matthew 4:4 NKJV

Youth Challenge! Project

With the help of a phone or a video camera, you could visit some mature Christians to interview them:

■ Have you faced some big trials or tests during the course of your life?

■ Can you tell us about some of them?

■ How did you deal with them?

■ How do you advise us to react when we face similar situations?

■ Did these difficulties help you to grow?

■ In which area and in what way?

Coram Deo

What are the trials in your life?

Whatever your circumstances may be, go to the Lord in prayer, and ask Him for the courage to stand firm in the midst of trial. Then go and encourage others to cling to Christ in their trials as well.
