Anxious For Nothing Session 2

Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.

- Philippians 4:4-8 ESV

Let Your Gentleness Be Evident to All

The Greek word for gentleness (epieikes) means a seasoned and mature temperament. To make our gentleness evident requires trusting in the One who is with us and the understanding that the Lord himself is always with us. When we become frantic with worry or anxiety, outbursts of anger are not far away. We can unleash destructive attitudes and words on those we love the most. Often, the Lord allows trials to remind us to trust in him—the One who is near, at hand, and will make a way through the trial.

  • On a scale from 1 to 10, with 1 being “no gentleness” to 10 being “gentleness evident to all,” how would you rate your contagious calm?
  • How can we have a tempered, level-headed response in times of pressure, conflict, and even panic?
  • Isolation creates a downward spiral of threat, are you currently facing a challenge all alone?
  • What is preventing you from calling out to God?

Call out to the One who deeply loves you and longs to help you today! And we'd love to come along your side and lift you up in prayer!
